Midtown Moves available at Amazon.com
When I was writing the material for this project I had in mind the players I wanted to use.
Hiring a band is much like casting an actor in a movie. Each musician is an artist which means they have strengths and weaknesses. No matter how proficient someone is, if their personality doesn't fit the material the results won't be remarkable. After all, isn't the goal to let them shine? Enable them to bring their unique gifts to the project?
On "Central Park South" Abe Laboriel came to mind. His joy for life and indomitable spirit seemed to be a perfect fit.
As I recall Abe only needed two takes. This video is of the first.
Notice that there is alot of laughter and kidding around at the beginning. Once the track started he and Tom Vicari, the engineer, were all business.
The moment the track ended it was back to humor borne out of mutual respect.

"It's been a few years since I've focused on being a "player" but my involvement with www.totonetwork.com has made me realize how much fun this kind of music can be. In the meantime I've been busy making movies like "Local Color","Senior Skip Day", "Payback" , "Spykids" etc. I'm looking forward to doing more of this and I thank you for your support.
